Profile
Dr. Jill Walker is a business psychologist with 20 years experience, who develops individual and leadership potential using a positive psychology approach. She designs and runs training and development programmes which realise people’s potential and maximise their performance. She is an expert in the pioneering area of evidence-based resilience and wellbeing training and coaching. With a real passion for helping people be the best they can be, her personal style is positive, dynamic and motivating.
Experience
Jill has been Managing Director of People Potential Ltd for the past 11 years, working in Ireland and internationally. Her forte is applying psychological research in a practical way to help individuals, leaders and teams maximise their effectiveness.
Previously a Management Specialist at the Irish Management Institute (IMI), Jill has provided training and development across all types of organisations e.g. the Irish Stock Exchange, Google, ESB Energy International, elan, Coca Cola, the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, Kerry Group, RTE, Management Centre Europe (Brussels), O2 and the Irish Defence Forces. Current work includes running a large culture change project with the Irish Stock Exchange for the past year, providing management development training and one to one coaching for all managers in the organisation, up to Director and CEO level. She is also running an 18 month long Management Development Programme for the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland.
Jill developed and ran the leadership programme on the Trinity/Enterprise Ireland MSc in International Business for 5 years and has worked on the Trinity MBA for the past 6 years. She is a regular speaker on TV and radio and a contributing author to the book ‘IMI Handbook of Management’ (2004).
Using a broad and eclectic mix of techniques, Jill's work as an executive coach has helped people across all levels and types of business increase their effectiveness and wellbeing. During the last year alone she has coached all of the middle and senior management at the Irish Stock Exchange and over 100 managers at ESB Energy International. She has also been a coach for more than a hundred managers and high potential staff at Google over the last 6 years. She is currently coaching a number of senior managers, VPs and directors from both Irish and global organisations.
Jill is an accredited user of the MBTI, Emotional Intelligence (EQi), CCL Benchmark and PDI Profiler (360 feedback) instruments. In addition to using these as part of her leadership programmes and coaching, she provides psychological profiles to organisations for their recruitment and to venture capital companies to help them in their investment decisions.
Starting as a management consultant with Accenture, Jill’s career has ranged from working in large multi-national companies to experience of the SME sector from time spent in her family business. As head of research and strategy at the international advertising agency McCann-Erickson in Belfast, she feels very proud to have helped save lives through her work on road safety and anti-terrorism campaigns.
